OLW for 2026!

It's that time of year again!
Choosing one little word or finding what one little word chooses me

I came up with this word: Devote/Devoted/Devotion.

Partly, because the word kept coming to my mind & partly because for awhile I've been feeling like I have needed to be more devoted in certain aspects of my life. Keep reading to find out what areas I will be working on in 2026.

First up, my faith. I do the bare minimum and sometimes even skip that. I've been a lot better about my morning prayers due to the fact that this line crosses my mind most every morning, "Ere you left your room this morning, did you think to pray?" Yep. That's been helping me more than I thought it would. I'm not sure how I even got that line of the hymn to go through my head. Divine intervention maybe? I force myself to say a morning prayer before turning on my phone screen and checking my notifications. I hope this routine can just turn into a habit again.

I want to be better about my scripture reading/study and be more consistent/diligent with that. Be better about reading the Sunday lessons beforehand so I don't feel so...lost? I am not sure lost is the right word. I would say so I can contribute to the lesson but I despise speaking in to the microphone that so many hands have touched and my words often don't come out how I would like them to so its better off and safer for me to say silent. But I would learn and know the gospel better, nowhere near to how much better I was when I was a full time missionary but it's a step in the right direction instead of staying stagnant or even sliding backwards like I feel like I've been.

I also want to be more devoted to my church callings. Stake Social Media Specialist and Relief Society Activities Committee. I will be thinking and planning how I can do that. One thing that comes to mind is not procrastinate when I am asked to do something. I tried to be better about that towards the end of 2025 with the activities calling and making flyers for activities and hope to get even better in 2025 however not too good because it's said, when you learn how to do your calling, they give you a new one. So more learning and growing. I get it but...ahhh.

Anyways, besides devoting myself more to my faith, I am going to throw friends and crafting in to the mix. And decluttering - always!

Friends. Realizing who really cares and is a true friend vs. who has just turned into an acquaintance in my life. Friendships go both ways and for awhile now it feels like I am often the one making more of the effort. There are a select few that reach out to me vs. me reaching out to them, which I do appreciate and try to reciprocate! Those who have turned into acquaintances were true friends at one time in my life and likely still are? Just priorities have changed. I realize I can't be besties with 1000+ friends I've made in my life.

Crafting. Gosh....I've really let my crafting fall by the wayside in 2025 and even since 2023. Travel became center stage with multiple trips a month. Sometimes just day trips to Disneyland, a week or two in Utah or bigger international trips. Weekend hot air balloon festivals, etc. I want to get back to using my supplies in my she shed and posting on Nite Owl Creates. I am determined to try some new crafts I have been wanting to try but haven't gotten around to yet. Check out my blog post about my craft goals.

What word did you choose for your one little word for 2026? I'd love to hear it!
